From Rehab to Race Day: CMD’s Return-to-HYROX Performance Testing

Getting “cleared” is not the same as being ready.

CMD uses return-to-race performance testing to ensure athletes can handle:

  • Running volume

  • Sled intensity

  • High-rep wall balls

  • Grip and core fatigue

Return-to-Race Benchmarks

  • Symmetry under load

  • Movement quality under fatigue

  • Capacity for repeated efforts

  • Confidence in competition movements

Why This Matters

We don’t guess. We test. We use the latest technology and proven systems and measures to ensure that we are progressing your along the right pathways.

The use of VALD force plates helps to ensure than we are well balanced during our wall balls and well balanced during our sled pulls and pushes. I would really like to see if we can get the right and left side of the body within about 10% of each other. Imbalances

With the use of OVR testing materials we can place a number of the power generation as well as the speed for which you are able to move weight (take the sled for instance)

We can test how well you are able to maintain midline under fatigue to ensure your back does blow up on you.

we can keep your issues in check

We know you are going to feel pain along the way. It would be irresponsible to think that that you are going to be pain-free throughout your training. It’s what you are feeling and WHEN you are feeling it that will tell us the bigger picture.

We even have the ability to take you through a “mini” race experience so we can really get into the weeds about where the problem really lies and what is bothering you the most during the race day.

What do you look like on the ski erg? What does the row look like? How well are you able to move the sled? All of this stuff really goes go into our treatment plan as well as our programming plan.

How bout a specific warm-up routine?

I don’t really believe that a warm-up should be incredibly long. I remember the days where we would have 45 minute warm-ups for soccer and I would roll my eyes every time…I would be warm and ready to play in 5-10 minutes. By the end of the warm-up, that’s the same as an entire half of soccer.

A warm up should do JUST that…get you warm. Get the blood pumping to the right areas. Get the lungs pumping and engage the tissues that are going to be taxed (so all of them really).

You don’t need endless foam rolling. You don’t need a 30 minute massage and a 20 minute sauna session. You just need a targeted warm-up.

We can Test what needs to be tested.

If you need to test your ski erg capacity…then you need to get on the ski erg.

If you need to test your rowing capacity and where your pain begins…we need to get you on the rower for a long period of time

If you have pain in your achilles/feet during the sled push…then we need to push some sleds. HEAVY SLEDS.

We always need to put you in the right position for you to rehab these movements appropriately.

What if you could train where you rehab?

Well…you can. Here at CMD, we opened up our separeate gym model that has incorporated the HYROX training model.

From specific HYROX training programs, to HYROX simulations as well as half HYROX simulations.
