We can still train without “training”
The biggest issues we see are with the running portion. Rightfully so, there is over 6 miles worth of running. So when running is the issue, we need to address it.
If someones achilles or plantar foot pain is out of control, then we need to take running out of the equation for a short while and replace it with an assault bike or an echo bike. They still get the stimulus of the cardiorespiratory piece without blowing up their calves.
Another issue we see is the wall ball portion where the catching the ball creates some shoulder pain and this alters their pace and their squat performance. We all know THAT can’t happen. So we can replace the wall ball with a pair of dumbbells and we can knock out dumbbell thrusters and still maintain our pacing and our techniques without the aggravating factor of the wall ball.
You are what you eat!
I’d like to see what you are eating. This really matters the most. In fact, I’d recommend linking up with a skilled Registered Dietitian to help optimize your nutrition while you are racing.
This is over an hour of continuous movement and this is soooooo similar to the triathlon world.
Hydration, carb intake, salt intake…all this will matter once you pass the 20 minute mark of our race and we can help you avoid BONKING. Yeah, you know what I mean. We’ve all experienced a BONK and we don’t ever want to hit it again.
